The last part of the preparations

Yesterday I had my last appointment before my operation on the 11th. It was an hour-long appointment where small… I don’t really know what to call them…hooks was placed on my braces in six separate places, both in my upper and lower jaw. These will be used to hold a certain type rubber bands after my surgery. A week after the operation I will be taught how to use them; how to place them on my braces and how to take them off when I am about to eat. The rubber bands will keep my jaw in the new position and make sure that it does not return to the old one. Because apparently after the procedure my body will try to “fix” the change by pulling my jaw back into its old position, which of course won’t be preferable to say the least. Anyway I decided to take a few photographs hrm hrm…a lot of photographs… to document how my jaw looks right now and how these hooks are placed on my braces.

So here they are:

Here I am now, before the surgery:

This is how the hooks look (the red markings display where the middle of the jaws are and the distance that the lower jaw will be moved):

I also decided to add these two pictures that are taken slightly from above that clearly show how horribly wrong my jaw is placed at the moment.

Not terribly exciting things yet but small steps towards the operation.

That is it for now! Bye :)
